The locals told us that you can still grab a mooring spot if you arrive before 2 PM on weekdays. Just chat with the friendly port worker who knows all the ins and outs and can find you a spot that’s temporarily free.
Some folks mentioned that the free pier has its quirks, like a gypsy crowd, so they felt safer going to the marina. If you’re sensitive to noise or wind, the free pier can be a bit lively, but moving to the other side can make a big difference.
