Just sailed into Cala Violina – what a peaceful spot on the Tuscan coast! Dropped my hook in about 6 meters, sandy bottom with good holding. Watch out though – it gets crowded in summer afternoons when day boats show up. My 36-footer found decent shelter from northerly winds. The water stays crystal clear here. Swam to the white quartz beach this morning – they say it makes musical sounds when you walk on it, hence the name. Heading north, Marina di Scarlino sits about 3 nautical miles away – stopped there for provisions. The chandlery Marine Service Scarlino sorted me out with some supplies. No facilities here, but the Gulf of Follonica offers several marinas within easy reach. Found stable phone signal here.
