Rade de Saint-Pierre in Martinique is a picturesque anchorage with a lot of history and charm. The holding is decent in sand and mud, though I had to reset the anchor once before I felt secure. It’s fairly exposed, so it can get a bit rolly if the wind shifts or the swell picks up, but the views of Mount Pelée towering in the background more than make up for it.

Shore access is straightforward, and there’s a dinghy dock near the town, which is quite convenient. Saint-Pierre itself is full of history, with ruins from the old city that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption, so it’s worth a walk around. There are some small grocery stores and a few places to grab a bite, but not a lot in terms of major provisioning.

The water is clear, and there are some nice snorkeling spots nearby. It’s not the most sheltered anchorage, but it has a certain charm that keeps bringing me back.
