1 Reviews on “Bahía de los Genoveses”
A scenic and relatively peaceful anchorage nestled within the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. This secluded bay is known for its untouched beauty, featuring vast dunes, a golden beach, and turquoise waters, all framed by rugged hills. The anchorage is fairly open, so it can be affected by easterly winds, making it better to anchor here when conditions are calm. Boats can anchor in the sandy bottom with good holding, but it’s essential to monitor weather changes, as strong winds can come in. While the bay has a serene atmosphere, the surrounding area, including Genoveses Beach, can attract beachgoers during the summer months. There are no amenities at the anchorage itself, maintaining a pristine, wild feel. Nearby, hiking trails wind through the park, offering views of the coastline and unique rock formations. Historically, the bay was a gathering point for ships in the Spanish Armada before the Battle of Lepanto in the 16th century.
