Anchoring here is generally good, especially in the NW corner of the bay where you’ll find decent protection from swell and wind. The seabed consists of a mix of sand and seagrass, so you might need to navigate carefully to find a good spot for your anchor.

One of the highlights of Bouillante is its geothermal hot springs. The warm water, flowing from a nearby power plant, creates a fascinating and soothing experience. Just be prepared for the slight sulfur smell and the pebbly beach—bring water shoes if you plan to swim. The dinghy dock can be a bit tricky, with high dockings and a possibility of dinghies getting caught underneath, so some creativity may be needed to secure your boat.

The town has essential facilities, including a small Carrefour Express and a gas station. Local vendors and a farmers’ market offer a taste of the area’s fresh produce.
